Let's explain... 

Hypnotherapy can be intimidating. This is likely due to the mass amount of misinformation surrounding hypnosis. Many are simply fearful of the unknown, or possibly afraid of relinquishing control. However, I am here to clarify for you: You are in full control while undergoing hypnotism. You are fully conscious, very relaxed, and will not do anything you don't want to. You are the one in control. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. (Thompson)

 

There is a 4-step process in a complete hypnotic session, below you will read more about each. Carmen will be your guide through this process, introducing relaxation and deepening techniques. While your mind is in this heightened state, we can implement new suggestions to override old habits.

You lose consciousness and have amnesia when hypnotized.  

While in hypnosis, you remain aware of everything happening. Including who you are, where you are, and what took place during your hypnotic state.

You're under the control of the hypnotherapist when you are hypnotized.

Your hypnotherapist is simply a guide through your hypnotic state. You cannot do or say anything you don't wish to.

Hypnosis is nothing more than a deep sleep.

This is a common misconception because of the way your body appears while in a deep state of hypnosis. However, being in hypnosis isnt sleeping.

Induction

The first stage of hypnosis begins with relaxation, centering your focus and ignoring distractions. Your hypnotherapist will be your guide through this stage, offering specific breathing techniques, muscle relaxation, or concentration on a visual image.
